The 2022 Dodge Durango offers a spacious upscale three-row interior with muscular styling and engine performance. For 2022, the Durango sees several improvements and added standard features. The Durango now comes standard with a third row of seats, which was previously offered as an option. The Durango also gains standard features, across all trims, such as Blind-Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, a Power-Adjustable Driver’s Seat, and Rear Parking Sensors. The Durango add several standard features as the trim level, and price, increases. The Durango’s interior design prioritizes overall comfort and material quality to provide a roomy cabin. The cabin of the Durango has improved over the years thanks to continual tweaks and updates. The base Durango makes use of hard plastics without cheapening the interior quality. For a more upscale interior, the higher trims offer more luxurious material selections and standard features. The Citadel trim adds Nappa leather seating, heated and ventilated front seats, a sunroof, and much more. The Durango has a unique exterior styling and uses distinct curves, separating it from other SUV’s and giving it a more muscular look. The overall appearance of the Dodge Durango changes with trims, with the R/T & SRT® 392 sporting a more intimidating hood. For a more premium appearance, the Citadel trim is available with chrome tastefully added to the exterior design.
For 2022 Dodge has discontinued the SRT Hellcat trim and the 710-horsepower supercharged V8 engine with it. The 2022 Durango now comes with three engine choices that still provide great performance. The Durango comes with a 3.6-liter V6 engine, on the SXT, GT, and GT Plus, producing 295 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. These three trims are rated to tow up to 6,200 pounds. The R/T, R/T Plus, R/T Hemi® Orange, and Citadel trims all make use of the 5.7-liter Hemi® V8 engine to produce 360 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque. All these trim, except the R/T plus, are rated to tow up to 7,400 pounds. The SRT 392 offers the most power engine option with a 6.4-liter Hemi® SRT V8 engine that produces 475 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. The SRT 392 and R/T plus have the best-in-class towing capacity of 8,900 pounds. The Durango is designed with performance in mind and, as expected, the fuel economy isn’t the main sell point. However the Durango is still competitive with other V6-powered rivals. The V6 that powers the lowest three trims is rated with a fuel economy of 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. Upgrading to the 5.7-liter V8 provides increased performance capabilities while reducing the fuel economy to 14 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. The most powerful engine option reduces the fuel economy further to 13 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway.
